Instead of freaking out because you don't have buttermilk for a recipe, here's what you can do ....
- 1 Tablespoon white Vinegar
- Milk (your choice)
- Place one tablespoon of white vinegar in a liquid measuring cup. Add enough milk to bring the liquid up to the one-cup line.
- Let it stand for five minutes. Use as much as your recipe calls for.
- If you only need 1/2 cup, just halve the ingredients above.
- I only use skim milk, and the skim buttermilk comes out just fine.
